श्री खड़े हनुमान मंदिर जी
Shri Khade Hanuman Ji, Ujjain
The standing murti of Shri Hanuman Ji, revered in the heart of Ujjain for generations.
The Sacred Murti
Origins & Legacy
Roots in the Scindia Era
Local memory places the shrine’s founding roughly 170 years ago, during the era of the Scindia state, with some accounts tracing it to the years around 1857. It has stood since as one of Ujjain’s cherished wayside shrines, in the Sarafa market along the Kanthal Chauraha–Chhatri Chowk stretch.
The Standing Form
Most depictions of Hanuman Ji show him seated in devotion, kneeling before Shri Ram, or in flight. This murti departs from that convention, standing upright in the sanctum — a form devotees have long regarded as a mark of unwavering vigilance and readiness to serve.
Jhaada and Everyday Devotion
For generations, families across Ujjain have come to perform jhaada before Khade Hanuman ji — a traditional practice of seeking protection from illness and misfortune. This daily rhythm of devotion remains the heart of the shrine.
